Practice Areas

False Arrest
The right to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence are cornerstones of our criminal justice system. But for those who should not have been arrested in the first place, quite a bit of damage may be done by the time the trial starts. Success at trial cannot bring back what was already lost. We represent those who were wrongfully arrested, helping them to find some relief and hold those who were responsible accountable.

Excessive Force
No one doubts that police officers have a dangerous job. The police are given the power to protect themselves and others. But like all powers, this can be abused. We represent individuals who suffer excessive force and wrongful death at the hands of the police and other government officials.

Prisoners’ Rights
We owe a duty to provide some protection for the safety and well-being of those we incarcerate. After all, when we lock them up, we take away inmates’ abilities to protect themselves. We represent inmates in our state’s jails and prisons who have been attacked by other inmates, suffer excessive force at the hands of prison and jail officials, and have been denied adequate medical treatment.

Discrimination
One of the bedrock principles of equality enshrined in our civil rights laws is that people should not be denied certain opportunities because of their race, gender, nationality, religion, or disability. Our firm represents individuals who experience discrimination at work, at school, in public accommodations, housing, and government benefits.

First Amendment
The First Amendment protects, among other things, the rights to free speech, assembly, and association. We represent individuals whose First Amendment rights have been denied and have suffered retaliation for their exercise of those rights.

Other Civil Rights
The Constitution guarantees the protection of many other rights, and our firm represents individuals who have had those rights violated, including those who have been subject to illegal searches, had their privacy rights violated, and have been deprived of due process.
